Can an artificial machine really think?
Andrew Adams education insights
An AI developer can see where the training wasn't set up properly to understand language, or vocabulary, or where the dataset collection went wrong, etc. Returning to the original question about artificial intelligence and thinking, I think we can solidly conclude that these systems don't do thinking at all.
Is it possible for a machine to think?
In theory, then, it is possible that a machine running the right kind of computer program could have mental states, it could literally have a mind. It could have beliefs, hopes and pains. And, if it could have a mind, then it could also be intelligent. All of this assumes, of course, that functionalism is true. Can a mind be artificially created?
An ongoing attempt by neuroscientists to understand how the human brain works, known as cognitive neuroscience. A thought experiment in the philosophy of artificial intelligence, demonstrating that it is possible, at least in theory, to create a machine that has all the capabilities of a human being. Are AI thinking machines really thinking?
Machine learning or deep learning algorithms are often based on artificial neural networks. These are computing systems that are specifically modelled on how the human brain works. We refer to these as 'thinking machines' even though they don't think in the way that humans do.Can artificial intelligence have a mind?
In contrast, weak AI assumes that machines do not have consciousness, mind and sentience but only simulate thought and understanding. When thinking about artificial consciousness, we face several problems (Manzotti and Chella, 2018).Can machines Think Like Humans? | Samuel Bosch | TEDxEcublens
Can a machine be self-aware?
Since consciousness is the awareness of internal and external environments, and since computers and machines are aware of their environment, self-awareness is recognition of that consciousness. Since self-awareness does not require a biological origin, today's machines can be categorized as self-aware.Can a machine have a soul?
A necessary condition for computers or robots to have a soul is that they be self-aware, be conscious. If this is not possible, then there would be no way we could think that devices with “artificial intelligence” had souls. So, in this section we'll focus on whether computers and robots can be self-aware.Can robots think like humans?
While improving perceptibility may make robots sentient up to a certain degree, replicating human consciousness remains a challenge, at least for now. Out of the different approaches that could be taken to have robots think like humans, initiating machine consciousness is seemingly the most far-fetched.Can a machine think Alan Turing?
Turing, proposed a variation on a simple parlor game as a means for identifying a machine that can think: A human judge interacts with two computer terminals, one controlled by a computer and the other by a person, but the judge doesn't know which is which. Can machines be really intelligent?
We tell ourselves that machines may use algorithmic trickery to mimic some of the incredible feats our minds perform, but they're certainly not displaying intelligence. Don't be so sure. Over the years, computers have become ever more capable of emulating tasks once thought exclusive to humans. Can we create a human brain?
However, recent advances in stem cell technologies make it possible to reproduce, at least partly, human brain development in a laboratory. We are now able to replicate human neural cell types, distinct brain regions and produce organoids from embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells. Can we clone a brain?
While it is possible to clone a body, it is impossible to clone a brain. That each creature from microbe to man is unique in all the world is amazing when you consider that every life form is assembled from the same identical building blocks. Every electron in the universe is indistinguishable, by definition. Can human brain be copied?
The biological brain may not survive the copying process or may be deliberately destroyed during it in some variants of uploading. The simulated mind could be within a virtual reality or simulated world, supported by an anatomic 3D body simulation model. Can a machine think and behave like humans do?
Simply put, AI means making machines capable of performing intelligent tasks like human beings. It performs automated tasks using intelligence, and its key components are automation and intelligence. AI has three stages: ML: a set of algorithms used by intelligent systems to learn from experience. Can AI think out of the box?
GM of Energy Sector AI Planning &…Despite the super power of human mind, it still bias, and limited to its own thoughts and old experiences. As a result, generating new ideas, or thinking out of the box become challenging task.
