Subscriptions are becoming increasingly important to publishers. Yet what are the key benchmarks against which current performance can be measured?

“Subscription Marketing 2009” is Wessenden Marketing’s latest review of the publishing industry.  It looks at questions like.......

  • How many people are employed in a typical subs department and what do they spend their time doing?
  • How big are subscription marketing budgets?
  • What are average acquisition costs?
  • Which acquisition sources are growing?
  • Where do online and digital fit into subscription activity?
  • How many companies have a database and what is it used for?
  • Where are publishers pitching subscription prices?
  • How many people are using loyalty clubs and how effective are they?
  • What are the key opportunities and threats for subscriptions in the future?

It is these kinds of questions which are being asked in a confidential survey which will provide a detailed and practical assessment of what current publisher practice is and what lies ahead in the future.  Wessenden Marketing will analyse the views of publishers across all market sectors and will report back on what the consensus is (no individual companies or respondents will ever be identified).  This will provide a unique update on the whole area of subscription marketing

Everyone who completes a questionnaire will be sent a copy of the final report (normal cost £195) which will be available in early November.
