Playboy to publish 3-D centrefold
Movie studios aren’t the only ones trying to cash in on the 3-D craze. Playboy magazine is printing its June issue with a 3-D centrefold.
The magazine, which comes out Friday, will come equipped with 3-D glasses to better focus on Playmate of the Year Hope Dworaczyk.
“What would people most like to see in 3-D?” asks Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. “Probably a naked lady.”
Playboy, like many other magazines, is facing declining circulation. Today, the magazine has some 1.5 million subscribers, down from a 2006 high of 3.5 million. The magazine recently put animated character Marge Simpson on its cover.
Hefner, the magazine’s founder, had apparently toyed with the idea of using 3-D in Playboy back in the 1950s but found the cost of including the glasses to be prohibitive.
