NEWSPAPER ABC: Daily Star bucks trend with bumper 20% circulation rise

Northern & Shell''s tabloid the Daily Star was the only daily national paper to post a rise in circulation year on year, according to the newspaper ABC data.The Daily Star has improved its circulation since it reduced its cover price to 20p last November and in July, its average circulation was 887,106, up 20.12% year on year and 1.91% month on month.Circulation for Independent News & Media''s The Independent declined by the greatest percentage of the daily papers year on year.

The Sun's average circulation was 3,121,407 copies a day, down 0.4% year on year, but up 3.07% month on month.The circulation of Northern & Shell's mid-market paper the Daily Express was 734,045, down 0.19% year on year, but up 0.62% month on month.
