Circulation falls across the board for UK regionals

Among the dailies, the Liverpool Echo fares among the survivors for the first half of the year, down just 3.2pc.

But in contrast the Liverpool Daily Post is down 28pc to 8,389 - the biggest decline of any regional daily - following its repositioning as a business title.

The Dundee Evening Telegraph was the only regional daily to post an increase in sales, up 0.4pc to 23,269.

    In Scotland, the Aberdeen Press and Journal falls just 3.3pc, while the East Anglian Daily Times in Norwich is down 3.7pc.

    The Cambridge Evening News is down 11.9pc, taking its sales to 21,997.

    The Western Daily Press in Bristol, under its new guise, is down 11.8 per cent at 31,809. And its Northcliffe stablemate the Nottingham Evening Post down 11.3pc to 42,529. The Journal, Newcastle, is also down 11.3pc - to 28,232.

    Double digit falls also take in the Oldham Chronicle, The Press in York, the Glasgow Evening Times, the Chronicle, Newcastle, The Western Mail, and the South Wales Echo.
